Ali Ibn Abi Talib
Ali ibn Abi Talib, the Prophet Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law, was also a member of the Prophet's household.
When he was only five years old, the Prophet took him into his care and raised him well. He stayed with the Prophet from then on, until he married the Prophet's daughter Fatima after the migration to Madinah. He was so close to the Prophet that the Prophet once told him, "You are of me, and I of you." This closeness, however, came with a lot of responsibility, as well as being continuously put to the test with difficult situations.
Ali grew well-versed in Islamic knowledge over time, attained religious profundity, and lived a life of deep realisation and spirituality. Caliphs Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman used to consult him on important subjects on a regular basis.
Ali was appointed as the fourth Caliph of Islam following the death of Uthman. Ali was so devoted to Allah and His Messenger that he was given the title al-Murtada, or the one with whom Allah is pleased.
